Workshop: “Unlocking the Power of AI in Programming” – Updating Trends and Enhancing Developer Competencies in the Digital Era at LHU

On March 19, 2026, the Faculty of Information Technology at Lac Hong University successfully hosted a workshop titled “Unlocking the Power of AI in Programming” in Room A301. The program aimed to provide students with a comprehensive perspective on the role of Artificial Intelligence in software development while guiding them toward the essential skills needed to adapt to modern technological trends.

The workshop was organized to help students gain practical insights into applying AI in programming, thereby enhancing product development mindsets, optimizing workflows, and increasing personal productivity. Additionally, the program played a key role in career orientation for Information Technology students as AI becomes an indispensable part of the software industry.

During the session, students were introduced to an overview of AI trends in software development and the current ecosystem of tools supporting developers. A particular highlight was the guide on registering and utilizing GitHub Copilot Pro for students, which garnered significant interest by providing direct access to one of the most popular AI-powered coding assistants today.

The program focused on clarifying the software development lifecycle supported by AI, covering stages from Ideation and System Architecture to UI Drafting and Core Development. Through this, students gained a systematic and practical understanding of how to integrate AI throughout the entire product development lifecycle.

One of the standout segments of the workshop was the discussion on Prompt Engineering for Developers—a critical skill for effectively leveraging AI tools. Students were not only taught the underlying theory but also witnessed live demonstrations of building applications with AI, allowing them to clearly understand how to apply these techniques to real-world projects.

In addition to the benefits, the workshop addressed the challenges of using AI in programming, including over-reliance on tools, source code quality control, and information security. This underscored the irreplaceable role of the developer in the AI era—not just as a coder, but as a controller, director, and creator of technological solutions.

The event featured vibrant interactive quizzes and a Q&A session where students engaged directly with the instructor, concluding with a gift-giving ceremony for active participants. The “Unlocking the Power of AI in Programming” workshop provided not only practical knowledge but also reaffirmed the Faculty of Information Technology’s commitment to aligning its curriculum with emerging tech trends, particularly Artificial Intelligence.

Moving forward, the Faculty of Information Technology will continue to implement academic activities, specialized workshops, and partnership programs to enable students to access advanced technologies, improve professional competencies, and prepare for integration into the digital-era labor market.
